When the recent ammunition shortage hit the Firearm community pretty hard, scammers with fake websites come crawling out of the woodwork. They are relentless and hit the social media sites 24/7. With prepping & survivalism becoming more mainstream, You can expect these same scammers to be coming after the prepper community. Just a little awareness will prevent losing money to these low lifes. They try directing users to a fake website or will try to direct sell through a messaging app. The first hint, they only accept payment methods that prevent you from filing a grievance, PayPal Friends & Family, Venmo, Zelle, Bitcoin, etc. The deals they offer seem to good to be true, because they are. The websites are usually new and many will copy a legitimate web business, sometimes word for word. Using www.whois.com you can see how long the domain name has been registered. www.trustpilot.com gives business reviews. www.scam-detector.com/validator/ checks websites using a logarithm to determine how trustworthy it may be. www.bbb.org, the Better Business Bureau doesn't have info on all businesses, but you may still learn something. You can also look up reviews by simply typing in the website domain name plus reviews. Ex: "www.google.com reviews" or "www.google.com scam". Read through the results, maybe someone else has already called them out. Never do business with someone you don't know or can not get a vouch for. If something seems off, move on, good chance it's a scam.
